Verify Smart Corp was originally formed as a technology company to eliminate debit and credit card theft using two factor authentication (2FA) to verify a user in an electronic transaction via a computer or mobile device.  Millions of dollars have been spent developing the technology and in 2007 patents were filed in 29 countries throughout the world.

The Verify Patents were initially filed for provisionally on September 14, 2007, represented by Patent Application Serial No. PCT2007/001639.  The initial provisional application was filed as a “System and Method for Verifying a user’s Identity in electronic Transactions”.  It wasn’t until October 12, 2012 that the US patent 8285648 B2 was granted by the USPTO in Washington, DC.  The time was lengthy and expensive as we were required to make several amendments to the claims to finally get through the approval process.  Verify initially acquired the rights to all the patents and patent pending applications on July 25th 2012.

The company has settled patent infringement suits with several U.S. companies; Microsoft, Apple, Yahoo and Discover to name a few.  Verify Smart has further patent infringement lawsuits pending, including suits against Bank of America NA, Bank of America Corp, The Clearing House Payments Company LLC, The Clearing House Association LLC and Askeladden LLC.

In addition to the US patent, Verify also has the rights to the patents that have been issued or are patent pending in the following areas of the world:

  • South Korean Patent # 10-1309594; Titled “A system and method for verifying a user’s identity in electronic transactions”; Issued on Sep. 13, 2013
  • Canadian Patent # 2664680; Titled “A system and method for verifying a user’s identity in electronic transactions”; Issued on Mar. 25, 2017
  • Patent pending application Serial No. PCT2007/001639 (includes European Patent); Pending Issuance.

The Canadian and European patents are much broader than the United States patent, making them even stronger.

Today, Verify Smart Corp has commenced an aggressive expansion to its operations, products and services. The company has become a technology innovation organization dedicated to globally sourcing, developing, marketing, licensing and distributing innovative new technologies across markets including patented and patent pending technology for two factor authentication.
